The importance of references

"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe. "
—John Muir [FiSum]  1

We strive to have the best possible sources for the information we put forth. As a reference work, facts must be taken from expert opinions in a clearly traceable manner. A great deal of the effort in putting this site together is connecting between discussion to the sources.

That said, there is always the chance we misunderstood or misread a source document. Contact us if you have any questions or comments about our sources. If you are one of our sources, we would like to hear from you too.

Reference section format

The references are listed in the order we added them. This has no relation to where they are cited in the text.

References appear in the text like this: [About] and link to this page.

Notes

1 What led me to this quote was seeing "When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world." attributed to John Muir. The text, as cited, talks instead about a wider oneness of all things and all experience. Finding the quotation for a reference section misquoted illustrates the difficultly in finding traceable sources.
